Subject: A Very Special One
The downside of this one is that it is an audience tape. The upside is that it is a brilliant audience tape! You'd be hard pressed to find a clearer GPN audience tape. From the comments on the recording I would assume this is a pretty formal venue. The audience picks up energy near the end of the set, but for the most part I imagine that they were sitting and enjoying the music. This might be one of the reasons that the recording came out so clear. Aside from the quality of the recording, the quality of the performance also shines. You have Grace and the band running through the best parts of their catalog. Grace tells some stories. She sounds fantastic on the piano and the organ. It all seems very intimate and inspired. Then, toward the end of the set they decide to show their prowress as a "jam band" with some stretching out from Over Again through the rest of the set. This is a very special night very well captured.

Subject: Wow
I've downloaded and cherry picked (no pun sweet Grace) dozens of GPN shows from the archive and this is by far the best recording. I can't imagine it even sounding better if you were there. And a great performance to boot.

Wow...amazing quality recording! Apologies and Lose Some Time are amazing - they sent a chill down my spine! For me that means the song is amazing, and it doesn't happen much. Can't wait to see them with the Black Crowes at the Charlottesville Pavilion, and hopefully someone will record that show too!
when's the next album due?

Subject: In awe!!!
This is the first show I have downloaded from Grace and Nocturnals after hearing them on a moe. download (Late Night All Star Jam 07). Grace and band are simply amazing. I have to get more of their stuff...I'm buying some CDs. Grace has such a sultry voice. Apologies is jaw dropping. Keith, fantastic recording! This really sounds great!

All I can say is THANK YOU for this amazing recording. The sound quality is excellent and what a special treat with the acousitic set of Lose Some Time with Grace and Scott and Grace's solo of Apologies on the grand piano.
This concert really should be one of her CD recordings. OUTSTANDING!

LOL! OK patobrocks, thanks for not saying that! And you're welcome! Not to worry, I don't bruise easy (and trust me, this is far from being one of the best recordings on the archive).
Thanks to everyone for the compliments. Having a 2nd row center seat for Grace & the boys in a fantastic-sounding venue was just too good not to share. This is actually less than pro quality sound due to the limitations of the mics and recorder, but it's amazing what good position + great acoustics + an audience that shuts the **** up during the songs will do for you! (although Grace seemed a little unnerved by the quiet, lol) It was a fantastic show, and they always do a great job of mixing the sound at the Allen Room.

Subject: Great Sound Quality
I love Grace and this is a more emotional show.
But Kieth from New York kudos.
I will not say that this is the best tape job i have ever heard or even one of the best, because invariably some other lister will criticize me, and thus you, so I will simply say thank you.
Thank you

Subject: Fantastic...
This could easly be used by the band as a live disc. Amazing sound and some true standouts. I only wish Grace could travel with a Grand Piano all the time, Apologies is the best ever.

Subject: Wow...just...WOW!
This recording has great clarity, which really highlights the vocals. Apologies and the new Can't See Through are downright stunning. How does this band keep coming up with song after song that flat-out knocks me over???
Small setlist correction: The final track is actually Angel Band > Big White Gate > Angel Band reprise.
